Melissa Micco, deputy controller, is responsible for supporting the ESVC of Administration and Finance/CFO’s (F&O) internal and external roles including connecting all major strategic, financial, and enterprise risk processes across the University. She also collaborates with F&O leadership for development and execution of a communications strategy with key University stakeholders, as well as working to align outcomes with the strategic plan for F&O. Her team supports the budget operations and financial analysis of University-wide initiatives and provides project management support to key University strategic priorities.
Melissa joined Pitt as deputy controller in October 2023 from Robert Morris University where she held various roles including controller, chief accounting officer, and chief financial officer. She was very involved with strategic initiative development and implementation, financial modeling scenarios, and multi-year planning. She also served as a liaison for multiple board committees.
Melissa has more than 30 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting, including nearly 20 years in higher education. Prior to her time at RMU, she served as the manager of risk and group settlements at Highmark, Inc. and worked as an auditor with Deloitte & Touche, LLP.
