Building a Sustainable Foundation
While most students had left campus for the summer, the learning didn’t stop at Pitt as leaders across Business and Operations came together to continue their own education. Staff from the seven units met at the University Club for the bi-annual Business and Operations Leadership Meeting, which provides an opportunity for information, ideas, and personal connections to be made across every department from Human Resources to Grounds to Mobility.

The title “Chief of Staff” has an air of prestige and respect. But it can also cause a bit of confusion. Many may be unaware of the tasks and responsibilities of the position. Or as Madeline Kahn so elegantly put it, “What exactly is it that you… do-do?” (Young Frankenstein, 1974).

Gina Bleck joins Business and Operations as the new Vice Chancellor for the Office of Planning, Design and Construction. She joins the University of Pittsburgh with prior leadership roles in capital projects at Georgetown and Rutgers universities.

Carolyn Verga welcomed to Office of Planning, Design and Construction
Carolyn Verga joins the newly formed Office of Planning, Design and Construction as the new Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campus Planning in January of 2023. She comes to Pitt after serving as the Director of Facility Planning for The Ohio State University.
